When do sign-ups open for the 2019 tackle football season? 2019 registration will open early spring
What are the schools that are eligible? Northern Elementary, Summerfield Elementary, Summerfield Academy, McNair Elementary
Where do you practice? Practices are held at the Northern Guilford High School 'Band' practice field, in front of the school.
How often do you practice? Practice is held Monday-Thursday from 6:00pm-8:00pm. After the 1st game, practice will will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00pm-7:30pm.
Can my son play another sport and football at the same time? Yes, however, football is physically demanding on the body and the children, and is not recommended to play another sport.
What conference do you play in? We are a member of the Piedmont Triad Youth Football League (PTYFL).
Is there a minimum weight requirement? Yes, to be ball carrier eligible. No, to play football.
What is the registration cost for the 2019 season? TBD
What is included in the registration fee? The registration fee includes the use of a custom Riddell helmet with a hard cup chin strap and shoulder pads. Also included to keep is a custom made jersey with players" Last" name on back of jersey. Registration fees also go toward a portion of practice & home game field rental, Medics for all home games, football equipment and insurance.
What mandatory equipment do I need to buy? Each player is responsible to provide their own:
-Mouthpiece that connects to helmet. Cannot be a Clear!!
-Practice pants (Integrated pants are recommended)
-Water bottle for practices.
-Cleats, cannot be metal.
-Practice jersey or shirt that will fit over shoulder pads.
Will I need to show a birth certificate to certify my child to play? Returning Nighthawk players do not need to show proof of age. New players will need to provide proof of age eligibility
Do I need a medical physical to play? Yes.
When do official practices begin? The 2019 Practice schedule officially begins early August 219.
Are there tryouts? There are no official try-outs.
How are the players placed on teams? Teams are determined by a combination of age, weight and experience.
How many players are on a team? Approximately 25-30 players per team.
