How much does a new cheer uniform cost?

Prices vary per season. Uniforms can be up to $150+ with additional accessories costing extra (poms, bow, etc.). All items are yours to keep. We offer a uniform bundle package, which will be the most cost-effective route to purchase items.  Additional attire will be needed to complete the uniform (plain white shoes and socks, black leggings, and black mittens/gloves).

How long does the season last?

From the beginning of August until late November

Are all of the games played in Greensboro?

No they are not.  They are played in several cities surrounding Greensboro.

When do the game schedules come out?  Do we need to attend every game?

As soon as the game schedules become available, you will receive it.  All games are played on Saturdays. While we realize that this is a big family commitment, cheerleading is a team sport so your teammates are counting on your cheerleader to show up.  Your attendance to games is important. Please do your very best to attend all games!

Where and when are practices held?

We practice at Northern Guilford High School. Practices begin in early August.  They run from 6:00-7:30pm until school starts. Once school starts, practice will be from 6:00-7:00pm. The practice area is near the rock in the front of the school. Time and location subject to change.

How many days a week do the cheerleaders practice? Do we need to attend both practices?

Two evenings per week. Practices are not mandatory but HIGHLY encouraged.

Does my cheerleader need to have a sports physical completed by a doctor?

Yes, a sports physical MUST be done.  No cheerleader can attend practice until the physical paperwork and liability waiver are completed.  An up-to-date physical must always be on record with NGYF. Sports physicals are valid for one year determined by the date the paperwork is signed by a physician.

Can my cheerleader cheer at the same time as their sibling playing football?

Yes.  The Cheer Directors will make sure that they are on the same game schedule.  Cheer siblings will also be on the same squad.

Can I request to be on the same squad as my cheerleader’s friend?

A request form will be given to each parent.  There are different types of requests that can be made.  Requests are not guaranteed.  Please do not promise your cheerleader that they will be on the same squad as their close friend.  The NGYF Cheer Directors will make sure that all placements are made with consideration to the cheerleader and what is best for the cheer program.

Is there a way for me to volunteer to help?

Absolutely!  There are MANY different ways for you to help!  The Cheer Directors will give you those ways throughout the season.
